Cam Whitmore has a lot of questions to answer entering next season with the Washington Wizards.

The former first-round pick finally got the change of scenery he was seeking when the offseason began, and it couldn't have been to a better situation.

As a Maryland native, playing for his hometown team was a dream come true.

Not only does Whitmore get the chance to suit up close to home with his family near, but he gets to represent the city and the DMV on his chest; the place that helped shape him into the player he is today.

Coming from the Houston Rockets, the Villanova product's first two seasons in the NBA have been far from perfect.

Whitmore has shown flashes of his scoring ability and what he could do with the ball in his hand, but his one track mind and questionable decision-making caused for the Rockets and head coach Ime Udoka to look a different way.

Houston's general manager Rafael Stone noted that the team couldn't afford to allow Whitmore to play through his mistakes.

However, in Washington, the Wizards will give the homegrown talent the opportunity to prove his doubters wrong.

Outside of the immaturity he showed with the lack of playing time he was offered, the biggest gripe about Whitmore's game was his lack of playmaking ability.

There's no doubt the athletic forward has the downhill ability to get to the basket at will and his jumper has slowly but surely improved since making the leap to the NBA.

However, his biggest weakness as a passer is what many felt like would be the lone thing that could hinder his development.

Whitmore's tunnel vision to the rim often got in the way during his days in Houston, which often times caused the Rockets offense to stall.

Entering year three with the Wizards, many felt the change of scenery and refreshing environment of young prospects around him would help Whitmore make that jump in that area.

Considering he no longer would feel the need to try and turn heads every time the ball was in his hands, it seemed like a safe bet to say that may be true.

So far, early signs have shown that the Wizards new wing could already be making strides in that area.

With a viral video of practice going around social media showing an impressive touch pass by Whitmore, things are already trending in the right direction.

It's clear that Whitmore has the court vision and if he makes more of an effort to assert himself as a passer, he could be poised for a major breakout with his new team.
