The Washington Wizards have been stuck in mediocricy longer than most fans can remember.
Between lackluster talent, poor decision making from the front office and underwhelming head coaching jobs, its been quite a long time since the Wizards' fanbase has gotten the luxury of seeing their team win.
Considering their abundance of chances to select in the lottery of the NBA Draft of the last few offseasons, there's no denying that the lack of wins has been the biggest reason why.
Obviously, constant struggles over multiple decades can't be tied to just one person, nor can one person be the sole reason a losing franchise turns things around.
However, each player can play a small role in turning things around at some point, no matter if they're a star player, glue guy or just a bench presence.
For Washington, they've yet to find who that person will be who can step up and change things for the Wizards.
However, one player already on the roster feels like e knows exactly what's needed to turn things around in Washington.
Corey Kispert believes he can be the key
Corey Kispert is entering his fifth year with the Wizards and so far throughout his time in D.C., he's grown accustom to losing.
Despite that, no player enters the season content with the idea of losing, especially after having a long offseason with plenty of time to contemplate what they can do to impact winning.
For Kispert, he believes he knows what needs to change in order for the Wizards to finally turn things around and find success after years of issues.
“I need to be more aggressive this year for our team to have success,” Kispert said in a recent interview with the media.
No, Kispert isn't a premiere scorer and there's a very slim chance that he'll be able to make the leap into a star sharpshooter Washington hoped he could be when they drafted him.
Nonetheless, as a versatile forward, with a fluent jumper and several other underrated parts of his game, Kispert proving to be aggressive could be extremely beneficial for the Wizards moving forward.
Having the Gonzaga product prove to be a reliable scoring presence off the bench, with the potential upside of him expanding his game with a playmaking leap, Washington's former first round pick could take pressure off several other players on the roster.
Kispert may not have all the answers, but his goal to be more aggressive could be a hidden key to unlock the next level for the Wizards moving forward.
