The Washington Wizards have left no stone unturned this offseaon as general manager Will Dawkins continues to do everything possible to set his team up for success heading into next season.
Not only are the Wizards focused on the looming NBA season, but the team's future has become a strong priority as Washington's long awaited and much-needed rebuild continues.
Washington has made countless moves this offseason, one of which many people were confused about when the team offloaded Jordan Poole in the first of many moves to unravel over the course of the last couple months.
Poole, fresh off a career-year in Washington may not have been viewed as a long-term fit for the Wizards, but what he offered as a microwave scorer was to thank for nearly every win Brian Keefe's squad earned last season.
However, with the need to find more minutes for the abundance of backcourt options on the Wizards, desire to land a veteran presence and goal to offload Poole's contract, Dawkins opted to cut his ties with the Michigan product.
And while incoming rookie Tre Johnson very well could fill the scoring void Poole leaves behind, it could take time for the Wizards to completely replace what the explosive guard offered at his best.
Fortunately, if Johnson isn't able to fill the void right away, Washington could easily find their Poole replacement at a mucher cheaper price.
The replacement? Bones Hyland.
Hyland began his career with the Denver Nuggets after an impressive college career at VCU.
The explosive guard quickly proved to be dynamic scoring threat with a quick first step, crafty finishing around the rim, exciting handles and a dangerous jumper.
However, his inefficiencies as a defender and unwillingness to play the team-first style of basketball that team's coveted forced him to struggle finding a home since leaving the Mile High City.
Nonetheless, his struggles to find a fit lately could have helped him realize what he needs to do to stick around and if the Wizards were to be interested in his services, he could be acquired for an incredibly cheap price.
Hyland has the talent and while the Wizards have an abundance of players already competing for roster spots this offseason, the explosive guard could be an extremely impactful addition for Washington.
Not to mention, at 24, Hyland's age closley aligns with the Wizards timeline and if he could find a fit in the DMV, he could be a nice scoring addition off the team's bench moving forward.
