As we all know, Jordan Poole's time with the Washington Wizards has come to an end.
The former Michigan star seemingly revived his career with the Wizards after turning the narrative from having the worst contract in the league to being a player the New Orleans Pelicans felt could get them one step closer to the level they hope to take.
Poole's stint in D.C. could have ended a lot worse, especially following his benching in year one.
However, the partnership seemed to benefit both sides in the end with Poole landing back in the Western Conference on a roster that's much closer to contending for a playoff spot, while the Wizards landed not only financial flexibility, but one of the best veterans in the league to mentor their young core in CJ McCollum.
And while the above makes the trade beneficial for the Wizards, the one overlooked factor of the deal is what Poole's departure offers Washington offensively.
Wizards offense could take a major leap
Losing Poole may seem like a major loss on offense when you consider the fact he was the Wizards leading scorer, averaging 20.5 points, that's certainly a loss Washington will have to account for.
Not to mention, the guard put forth his best season as a playmaker, averaging 4.5 assists with the duties of being the team's primary ball handler.
While Poole's absence certainly could prove to be missed, his departure could also propel the Wizards forward offensively.
Losing your primary ball handler is tough, but with Poole and his iso-ball now in New Orleans, it'll set up Brian Keefe's offense to have a lot more ball movement each trip down the floor.
Looking at some of the best film in the game, especially teams like the San Antonio Spurs when they were coached by the great Gregg Popovich and the 2024 Boston Celtics for example, ball movement can completely alter an offense.
The less isolaton dribbles, the more pressure on opposing defenses.
And with added talent like Cam Whitmore and Tre Johnson, who flourish putting the ball in the hoop, that type of offense could put both players in position to make huge leaps with the Wizards this coming season.
Not to mention the talent already on the roster.
Poole's backhanded comments about the Wizards may not be what fans wanted to hear, but while he feels like his departure is what's best for him, it could also prove to be what's best for Washington too.
