The Washington Wizards rebuild is fully underway as the team continues to navigate their future and stack as much young talent as possible.

Over the course of the last few years, Washington has managed to land several high upside prospects through way of both the NBA Draft and the trade market.

Obviously, the most talked about prospect on the team's young roster is former No. 2 overall pick Alex Sarr, who's quietly has solidified himself as one of the top players to come out of the weak 2024 NBA Draft.

In addition to Sarr, another prospect from the 2024 NBA Draft has emerged for the Wizards with Kyshawn George beginning to look like a major piece of the puzzle for the rebuild in Washington.

The only problem? George is way ahead of schedule.

Wizards may be holding George back from reaching his ceiling

The Miami product has been one of the brightest spots for the Wizards up to this point of the season.

George's sophomore leap has put all eyes on his development as many consider him to be one of the biggest steals from last offseason's draft class.

Averaging 15.2 points, 6.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists, while shooting 45.8% from field goal range and 43.9% from beyond the arc.

At the same time, while George is in the midst of a career-year, he's also way ahead of schedule and as a result, Washington's inconsistent play has hindered his success throughout year two.

As mentioned above, the Wizards have several other young prospects on the roster and while that's a good thing for a rebuilding roster, those growing pains also lead to struggles.

Between his growing confidence, versatile skillset and basketball IQ, George looks like a player ready to impact winning now.

On the flip side, the Wizards are a team that's not ready to win right now and that's exactly why they could be hindering George from taking the next step.

It's clear that the forward has the upside to be a dynamic wing in this league and while there's still plenty of time for him to reach that level, the harsh reality is until the Wizards are able to surround him and Sarr with winning pieces, the two building blocks are going to find their development hindered.

Regardless, the good news for the team is all indication point towards the Wizards finding two important pieces in their rebuilding process moving forward.
