Kyshawn George seemed destined for a major breakout season following his strong play throughout Summer League this offseason.
When the regular season came, the Miami product quickly proved that his offseason wasn't a fluke and that he was ready to take on the moment.
George, accompanied by Alex Sarr emerged as two players in the midst of a sophomore leap, which is exactly why the fanbase had high hopes that this season could be difference,
That hope is the exact reason why the team's lackluster start to the year has been an extremely disappoiting reality that the end of the rebuild is nowhere near.
Nonetheless, several factors have played into the Wizards struggles.
Between the growing pains of young prospects, inconsistent play of veterans and inability to execute often coming in the way of the Wizards finally figuring it out, Washington's poor start has come courtesy of several factors.
Throughout it all though, the Wizards have held out hope that this season could be saved from being a total loss by the development of their core.
George in specific has been arguably the biggest bright spot for the Wizards and his development has given the fanbase the hope that the front office could find more hidden gems in future drafts.
Unfortunately, over the last few games, George has seemingly taken a step back in terms of production.
However, his regression hasn't been that major of a concern and in large part due to the fact that everyone, including George knows exactly what's holding him back from taking the major step forward.
Kyshawn George acknowledges his lack of consistency
The biggest issue for George up to this point has been his lack of consistency, which has held him back from taking the next step forward proving he's the best player the Wizards put on the court on a nightly basis.
Fortunately, the former first round pick is fully aware of this issue and he's working to put it in the past.

There's no denying that being consistent is arguably one of the most important skillsets to possess in the league and the hard reality is consistency can be the difference between a star player and a role player.
George has plenty of time to figure it out, but until he does, expectations should be tempered when talking about his potential.
The good news is George is fully aware of what needs to change and based of his relentless work ethic, there's belief that change could be on the horizon.
