The Washington Wizards seem to be on the other side of the Malcolm Brogdon saga after a disastrous season in the lone year of the veteran experience.

Brogdon was brought to Washington to be the mentor in the backcourt for the Wizards young prospects, but after struggling to remain healthy nearly the entire season, the move to land Brogdon looks worse by the day.

Not only did the Wizards lose a year of mentorship by landing a veteran who couldn't even give them a quarter of the season on the floor, but they lost a dynamic young talent along the way.

Moving on from Deni Avdija will likely forever be looked back on as one of the franchises most head scratching moves if he continues down the road he ended the season on last season.

The forward emerged as a big time player for the Portland Trail Blazers and not only made the Wizards lack of patience look bizarre, but made Blazers' general manager Joe Cronin look like a genius.

Nonetheless, getting back to Brogdon, the Wizards are prepared to lose the veteran in free agency this offseason and if we're being honest, that's likely what the team wants at this point

Brogdon was underwhelming to say the least. Not only was he unreliable to be on the court, but when he was on the court, his play was not nearly as impressive as the team hoped it would be.

The guard seemed poised to leave and free agency and while that's still the most likely outcome, his slow market made it uncertain that he would for sure be leaving the DMV.

Rumors surfaced that both the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors could be interested in the 32-year-old, but that seemed to be the only teams interested.

However, a recent report from NBA Insider Jake Fischer suggests that the New York Knicks are another team that is reportedly keeping tabs on the former Sixth Man of the Year.

The Virginia product landing in New York would not only keep in the conference, but he genuinely could be the piece that helps lift the Knicks over the hump next season in a wide-open Eastern Conference.

That is, if he stays healthy.

Regardless, all signs point to Brogdon departing the Wizards this offseason and if New York is the landing spot for him, Washington will see their old friend more than they originally expected heading into the 2025-26 season.
