The Washington Wizards roster will look completely different at the start of the 2025-26 season in comparison to what it looked like at the end of the team's season in April.
Washington has brought in an abundance of new players, including Tre Johnson, Cam Whitmore, Malaki Branham and arguably the biggest name of all in CJ McColum.
McCollum is assumed to take on the veteran role in the Wizards backcourt next season that will be left vacant following the departure of Malcolm Brogdon, whom the team is all but preparing to lose in free agency.
Considering Brogdon's lack of availability this past season, it doesn't come as a surprise to see Washington land on the decision to not re-sign the Virginia product.
And up to this point in free agency, not many teams have seemed interested in landing the guard, at least to the point of engaging in contract conversations from what we know.
The Golden State Warriors were listed as a team with a level of interest in Brogdon, but with Jonathan Kuminga holding up not only the offseason for the Dubs, but multiple other free agents, it seems as if a fit in Golden State is less likely than orignally thought.
However, with recent reports surfacing that the Minnesota Timberwolves have considered the idea of adding Brogdon to their backcourt ahead of next season, perhaps the veteran's market may finally be picking up steam after all.
There's no doubt that when Brogdon is on the court, he's more than servicable for nearly any team in the league whether it's on a contending roster leading the second unit or serving as a veteran leader on a rebuilding squad like the Wizards.
To make an impact though, Brogdon has to be on the court and over the last two years across his stops with the Portland Trail Blazers and the Wizards, staying healthy has proved to be a tall task for the 32-year-old.
For the Timberwolves, the addition of Brogdon makes perfect sense, especially if they feel that they have the talent on the roster to contend in a loaded Western Conference next season.
Considering what they showed this past year, there's definitely reason to believe Minnesota could be in the mix in the West next season.
A veteran backcourt of Brogdon and Mike Conley alongside young talent like Anthony Edwards and Rob Dillingham would be among the best backcourt rotations in the league next season.
At the moment, a deal doesn't seem imminent but that could change in the near future.
