The Washington Wizards have made plenty of moves this offseason as general manager Will Dawkins looks to try a new mixture of youth and veterans heading into the 2025-26 season.

Washington has brought in multple additions to the team this offseason including the likes of Tre Johnson, Will Riley, Cam Whitmore, Malaki Branham and even an old friend in Marvin Bagley III.

However, the biggest addition of the offseason in term of noteworthy names has to be veteran guard CJ McCollum.

McCollum was the trade chip landed from the New Orleans Pelicans in a blockbuster deal ahead of the NBA Draft that landed Washington the veteran presence in the backcourt that the team has desperately been seeking.

However, knowing what the Wizards know now, they could have made this move last offseason instead of losing a talented young wing as a result of the move to land Malcolm Brogdon from the Portland Trail Blazers.

The outcome of the Brogdon trade looking back on things will forever haunt the team, especially after a nightmare season from the veteran this past year.

Not only was Brogdon unreliable, but his impact on the team was minimal to say the least and considering what Deni Avidja has developed into in Portland, it seems like Washington's lack of patience is once again set to come back and bit them in the end.

Brogdon's lack of impact for the Wizards and unreliablity to stay on the court forced the Wizards to hold on to him at the NBA trade deadline in February with minimal interest from teams on the trade market.

Now, with the Wizards set to lose Brogdon for nothing in free agency, the team is forced to look back on last offseason's move and regret getting rid of a former lottery pick who seems to be poised for a breakout year this coming season.

To make matters worse, Brogdon may be sticking around closer than originally thought to continue haunting the Wizards.

With recent reports from NBA Insider Jake Fischer that the New York Knicks could be eyeing the former Sixth Man of the Year to bolster their roster ahead of next season.

Not only are the Wizards set to lose the veteran for nothing in free agency, but they could be forced to watch Brogdon put it all together in New York and help get the Knicks over the hump in the wide open race in the East next season.
