The Washington Wizards roster will look completely different rolling into the 2025-26 season.

Some moves made by the Wizards to alter the roster were by the decision of general manager Will Dawkins, while others are simply out of his hands.

Of course, there's no saying for sure if Dawkins had any interest in finding a way to persuade veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon to return to the Wizards for another season, but considering the re-signing of Anthony Gill, and acquisitions of Khris Middleton and CJ McCollum, it's clear Washington prioritizes veteran leadership on the roster

Not to mention, Brogdon was essentially the Wizards first veteran addition to mentor the young roster last offseason.

However, fast forward to this offseason, Brogdon's time in D.C. seems to officially be nearing an end as his unrestricted free agency continues to stretch out.

Through the first month of free agency, the market for the guard seemed to be relatively slow. Not only for Brogdon, but for multiple other available playmakers in general.

With names like Josh Giddey, Ben Simmons and Russell Westbrook still available, it's clear that one domino may be holding up the whole offseason.

That domino? Jonathan Kuminga.

Kuminga is arguably the best player available this offseason considering his age and upside. The writing is on the wall for the former lottery pick's time with the Warriors to come to an end, but with Golden State's reluctancy to let the forward walk in restricted free agency for nothing, it's proven difficult for interested teams to meet the demands to get a deal done.

Between the pending outcome for Kuminga's situation, the future for players such as Brogdon, Ben Simmons, Russell Westbrook and even Al Horford among top names has been put on hold.

Regardless, recent reports from NBA Insider Jake Fischer suggests that the Warriors are a team interested in potentially signing Brogdon to help bolster their depth chart ahead of what they hope to be a championship season in 2025-26.

The interest is likely mutual, but until a decision for Kuminga comes to fruition from either sides, no deal seems imminent due to financial restrictions that could come with any potential deal for Golden State.

It seems like of the teams reported this offseason, the Warriors seem like the best fit and most likely landing spot for Brogdon at this point of the offseason.

Whether he lands in Golden State or elsewhere, it feels like a return to Washington is highly unlikely at this point.
