The Washington Wizards playoff hopes have been dead since nearly the start of the regular season.
With the season approaching an end, all eyes will turn to the offseason for the Wizards front office and their entire fanbase. More specifically, all attention will turn to the NBA Draft in arguably the most pivotal offseasons for the Wizards amid their long-awaited rebuild.
With the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament set to take place this weekend, there will be multiple players in action that could be wearing a Wizards jersey this time next season.
That said, here's a look at one player from each team that the Wizards and their fans should be watching.
G/F Cooper Flagg, Duke
This one is self explanatory. Cooper Flagg is undeniably the top prospect in this upcoming draft class...if he declares. The Duke star has had hype surrounding him since his high school days and before he even got the chance to suit up for the Blue Devils he was considered the favorite to go No. 1 overall in this year's NBA Draft.
Throughout his rookie season, he's proved the hype is warranted averaging 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
The Wizards front office, their fanbase and every basketball fan in the world will have their eyes on Flagg come Saturday.
G Milos Uzan, Houston
Milos Uzan isn't the most exciting name to watch for Houston and that's mainly because he hasn't gotten the respect he deserves for his part in Houston's success this season.
Uzan is a 6-foot-4 guard, and while he's not the most athletic, he makes up for it by being an efficient shooter. With splits of 46.3% from field goal range and 44.5% from three, mixed with the ability to be a willing defender, he could be the perfect player for what Washington is building their backcourt to become.
F Johni Broome, Auburn
Johni Broome has dominated in his fifth and final season of college, averaging 18.7 points and 10.9 rebounds. The big man has been the driving force behind Auburn's success this season and while he's not expected to be a top pick in this upcoming draft, he could be a steal in the back-half of the first round or on day two, especially alongside Alex Sarr.
G Walter Clayton Jr., Florida
Walter Clayton Jr. has put his name on the map this season for Florida. The crafty guard is a knockdown shooter and he's allowed the Gators' offense to elevate to another level throughout the year. Averaging 18.1 points, 4.2 assists and 3.6 rebounds, Clayton Jr. has it all to be an immediate impact for whatever team lands him.
