The Washington Wizards haven't just spent days in the NBA headlines, but weeks.
Between the team being involved in an abundance of rumors, the emergence of young players on the roster and the obvious elephant in the room...Anthony Davis!
Oh, and the Wizards acquired Trae Young too!!
If you would have told any Wizards fan at this time last year that Washington would have acquired both Trae Young and Anthony Davis for little to nothing, they would have looked at you crazy.
And in all honesty, considering the historic bad luck for the franchise, it would've been hard to blame them.
Nonetheless, it happened and now Washington's young core is set to be led by a superstar duo who could alone be the biggest reason for the Wizards to compete in the Eastern Conference sooner rather than later.
Not to mention what the additions of the savvy vets will mean for the development of young players like Alex Sarr, Kyshawn George and Tre Johnson; the three players that most would argue are the core building blocks for the Wizards moving forward.
Many are probably wondering: when will the Wizards be ready to compete in the East?
The answer? Soon.
In fact, NBA insider Brett Siegel of Clutch Points has the exact same thoughts saying the quiet part outload in his recent post deadline article.
NBA insider makes playoff expectations for Wizards clear
In his latest article, Siegel listed the Wizards as one of the biggest winners across the league from the NBA trade deadline.
Beyond that, he gave expectations that nearly every fan wants to hear when it comes to their team:
"It won't be long until the Wizards are back in the Eastern Conference playoff picture, and this organization's ability to pinpoint opportunities to buy low on superstar-like talents is why they are one of the biggest winners of the NBA trade deadline this season," Siegel wrote.
"A total of 14 All-Star appearances are arriving to this organization by way of Young and Davis, which will help set the standard for Wizards basketball moving forward," the insider added. "What's even better is that the Wizards basically got Young and Davis for free."
Washington has the pieces on the roster to make some noise and with the chance to only add this offseason, all signs are trendinh up for the Wizards, who are ready to break the constant cycle of medicority.
