A new trade fit for Corey Kispert is starting to make a lot of sense

The Washington Wizards enter the season with all eyes on them.

Not only do the Wizards have an abundance of exciting young talent, but they also have a variety of potential trade candidates on the roster.

Between the likes of CJ McCollum, Khris Middleton and even young prospects such as Bilal Coulibaly, Washington could prove to be very active ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February.

Considering they've already proved to be aggressive on the trade market this offseason, it's clear that general manager Will Dawkins will do whatever it deems necessary to get his team out of the constant cycle of mediocrity.

Moving veterans like McCollum and Middleton would be highly appealing to the Wizards, who would be more than willing to offload the lucrative contracts, especially Middleton's.

However, it may prove to be a bit more difficult for Washington to find a suitor for the two playmakers, unless one becomes desperate for help at some point this season.

Fortunately, Washington has one intriguing trade chip that several teams will be interested in.

In fact, championship contenders and playoff hopeful teams would almost jump at the opportunity to land one of the most underrated assets on the team.

That asset? Corey Kispert.

Kispert has spent the last four seasons in Washington, where he's yet to emerge as a premiere talent the Wizards hoped he could become when they selected him in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft.

Despite not being a top wing, Kispert has developed into a more than reliable 3-and-D player.

Considering the value he could offer a playoff contender, it won't be surprising to see teams began to call about his availability, especially considering he just inked a long-term extension with the Wizards last offseason.

In a recent article from Bleacher Report's Greg Swartz, the Cleveland Cavaliers were listed as a team that could potentially make an "ambitious" move for Kispert this season.

"The Cleveland Cavaliers don't need to blow up a roster that won 64 games last year, although a broken foot suffered by Max Strus could mean the Cavs will be missing their starting small forward for a few months," Swartz wrote.

"Corey Kispert could fill a lot of what Strus brings to the table. Kispert, 26, is a 6'7" wing who specializes in stretching the floor."

Realistically, if the Cavs come calling, the Wizards will listen if they feel a deal benefits them in the long run.
