This omission made the Wizards’ trade picture hard to take seriously

How could this player be left off the list?

The Washington Wizards are without a doubt expected to be busy ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February.

Not only do the Wizards have several trade chips on their roster, but they have players who simply just don't fit the timeline of their future rebuild.

Mix the above with the obvious fact that Washington finds themselves at the bottom of the NBA standings for yet another season, there's simply no real reason that the Wizards should stand pat on the trade market, especially when factoring in the reality that Washington's been extremely active over the course of the last few years.

As the trade deadline looms, people have slowly made their attempts to pinpoint names from each team that could be on the move in the next couple months.

In a recent article from Bleacher Report's Dan Favale, he made his thoughts crystal clear about who each team's top trade assets were as the trade deadline approaches.

For the Wizards, Favale listed Corey Kispert, Justin Champagnie and both CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton as the top trade chips for the Wizards.

And while the names listed above certainly could be in the mix to be traded in the next couple months, it's fair to argue that Favale left off one of the team's most valuable trade assets; at least in terms of production.

Marvin Bagley may be Wizards top trade chip

Marvin Bagley has been one of the biggest bright spots for the Wizards throughout the team's trying start to the season.

The former No. 2 overall pick re-signed with Washington as a free agent this offseason just months after the team opted to trade him ahead of last year's deadline.

Still, the Duke product didn't hold a grudge and he's used the extra fuel to make a statement in his role as a backup big for the Wizards this season.

Bagley is averaging 9.6 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.4 assists, while shooting 60.9% from field goal range and 50% from three in only 19.3 minutes per game.

The forward hasn't only flashed in his role as a backup big, but he's thrived in spot starts for the Wiz posting consecutive double-doubles in the Wizards last two games.

At this point, it's obvious that Bagley could make an impact on nearly every team in the league and if playoff teams come calling, it'll be hard for the Wizards to say no.
