The Washington Wizards season hasn't gotten off to the start that anyone in the organization hoped it would, nor has it matched the expectation and high hopes of the fanbase who have made it clear that their patience is running thin.

Prior to the slow start, it was already assumed that Washington would remain busy on the trade market just as they have been over the last few years of the team's rebuild.

Now, the team's lackluster open to the season all but confirms that the Wizards are likely headed towards a roster shakeup ahead of February's NBA trade deadline.

However, it's yet to be understood if the Wizards will find themselves as buyers or sellers this time around.

Washington's already been rumored to be interested in several premiere players reported to potentially be available on the market with the likes of Domantas Sabonis and Darius Garland coming to mind.

Nonetheless, if the Wizards hope to make any sort of moves, they'll likely have to be willng to move their top assets, while also managing to keep their top young prospects on the roster.

That said, it's hard to pinpoint exactly who the Wizards most valuable assets may be as trade season begins.

Fortunately, Bleacher Report's Dan Favale may have just revealed the top assets Washington has to offer moving forward.

Wizards top assets revealed as trade season begins

According to Favale, who took the time to list the top assets for each team in the league, Washington has several players who could be on the move ahead of February's deadline.

Of the names mentioned, Corey Kispert, Justin Champagnie and both veterans on the Wizards roster in CJ McCollum and Khris Middleton were listed as the top assets for the team.

Kispert, who recently signed a contract extension with the Wizards could be viewed as the most likely candidate to be dealt. The Gonzaga product would serve as a reliable 3-and-D player on team-friendly contract wherever he lands.

Champagnie has shown flashes of his ability to thrive as a scorer when the ball is put in his hands, but his inability to capitalize on the opportunities Washington has presented him with this season puts him in position where a change of scenery may be on the horizon.

Meanwhile, McCollum and Middleton being listed is a bit of a shock considering the Wizards will likely have a hard time finding a suitor willing to take on either player's contract, at least when it forces them to give up meaningful outgoing salaries.

Regardless, it's clear the Wizards have a few trade chips that could put the team in position to make a flurry of moves.
