The Washington Wizards have been rumored as a team to monitor as the NBA trade deadline slowly approaches.

Washington has an abundance of young talent on the roster, several veteran contracts and multiple players who's time in the DMV may have run its course.

However, arguably the team's biggest motive for a move ahead of the trade deadline could be the hope to fill the void of the glaring hole on Brian Keefe's roster.

Wizards need a point guard and the answer may be on the horizon

Since the departure of John Wall, the Wizards have been in desperate need of an adquate point guard that can not only be a reliable playmaker, but can run the offense to perfection and execute consistently.

Sure, Washington got one fun season of the Russell Westbrook experience, but even that didn't give the team a long-term answer,

Now, fully indulged in a rebuild, Washington has been held back by their inability to find a reliable point guard to man the offense and assist in the development of other players on the team.

With the sophomore slump of Bub Carrington, who the Wizards were largely banking on to take a leap this season to prove he could be the answer to the Wizards glaring roster concerns, it's become clear that the Wizards need to make a move.

In what's expected to be a busy next few months, Washington could find themselves fortunate enough to see several intriguing fits become available.

LaMelo Ball has already been reported as a name to watch as trade rumors pick up.

However, the most recent rumors suggests a player that could be an even better fit for the Wizards may be available.

That player? Darius Garland.

Garland has proven to be one of the best pass-first point guard's in the league since being selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The 25-year-old has also proven to be a crafty scorer and perfectly capable of running a high-powered offense.

In the midst of a down year in Cleveland, the Vanderbilt product could see himself being moved at the expense of the Cavs slow start to the season.

If the Wizards truly are in the market for the point guard of their future, and their rumored interst of Garland is real, not only would Garland fit the bill, but the young prospect coulde answer the question for years to come.

Providing Alex Sarr with a dynamic guard like Garland could be major for the Wizards future.
