The Trae Young era in Atlanta has come to an end after the Hawks agreed to trade the four-time All-Star to the Washington Wizards in the first blockbuster trade of the season.

Washington has been in heavy pursuit for an answer at the point guard position and after failed attempts to ink a long-term contract extension with the Hawks this offseason, Washington kept tabs on Young's situation in Atlanta.

When Washington was listed as Young's preferred landing spot, the Wizards urgency increased with the team's front office making it a priority to get a deal done sooner rather than later.

Sending veteran guard CJ McCollum and former first-round pick Corey Kispert to Atlanta in exchange for Young, Washington seemingly landed a premiere talent at an extremely discounted price all things considered.

Despite that, many critics still seemed to be against the team's decision to make a trade for Young with many concerns stemming from his defensive shortcomings, lack of impact off-ball and the potential that his arrival could negatively impact the team's rebuilding efforts.

However, in the midst of his down-year. in Atlanta, many overlooked how impactful having an adequate supporting cast can be for a player, which could be exactly why Young's play didn't entice any other teams to insert themselves in the sweepstakes for the star playmaker.

Regardless, in Young's farewell post to Atlanta, his indirect shot to the Hawks' front office may be exactly why his fresh start in Washington could lead to his best stretch of basketball yet.

Following the trade becoming official on Friday, Young went to social media to post a farwell message to the Hawks.

Within the post, Young shared his gratitude to the city of Atlanta and their fans, along with his excitement for a fresh start in Washington.

Noneheless, arguably the most important statement in Young's farewell post is the words hidden in between the lines.

“It’s time to see what’s possible when the support is real and the vision is clear," Young shared within his message.

The statement seems to be a direct shot at the Hawks' front office, who seemingly played a major toll in the guard's regression this past season.

Perhaps the team's lack of support for their star guard is exactly why Young found it comforting reuniting with Travis Schlenk in Washington, the former general manager who drafted him in 2018 during his time with the Hawks.

Regardless, it seems that Young is on a mission to silence his critics and if that is the case, that will be huge for his potential impact in the DMV.
