Trae Young officially made his long-awaited debut with the Washington Wizards on Thursday night.
Prior to the star guard hitting the court for the first time, news leaked about a potential reinforcement that could be on the way sooner rather than later.
That reinforcement? Anthony Davis.
Anthony Davis cleared to increase individual workouts
According to the Wizards recent announcement regarding Davis' reevaluation, all signs point to the newly acquired big man making steps in his recovery from a hand injury that sidelined him dating back to his time in Dallas.
Anthony Davis was reevaluated Wednesday in L.A. by a hand specialist and "continues to progress as expected and has been cleared to begin limited individual on-court basketball activities," the Wizards announced. Team officials added that Davis will be reevaluated in two weeks.

General manager Will Dawkins has made it clear on countless occasions that the plan is for both Young and Davis to play down the stretch of the season, even with the team's pursuit for a top draft pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.
With Young's debut coming on Thursday, it appears that part one of Dawkins' plan has already been completed, with the next step ultimately being the return for Davis at some point in the near future.
Obviously, a return to limited individual on-court activities is far from the Kentucky product being cleared for full contact and a return to play, but it does offer some optimism that his recovery process is trendig in the right direction, and quickly.
And looking at the outlook of the Wizards current roster, some good injury news is desperately needed.
An AD return is much-needed as Wizards' roster remains shorthanded
The Wizards history with injury news over the last couple weeks hasn't been great outside of Young's return to action.
Sophomore standout Alex Sarr still remains out as he recovers from a hamstring injury, Kyshawn George's recent UCL injury sidelines him indefinitely and that's just the recent news.
With players like Cam Whitmore, Anthony Davis and D'Angelo Russell all inactive over the team's recent stretch, it's clear that any reinforcements would be greatly appreciated from head coach Brian Keefe.
Beyond that, there's extra motivation for the team to have Davis return to action this season.
Trae Young and AD could build early chemistry
There's no secret that a partnership between Young and Davis has been talked about since the big man's time with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Now, with them finally on the same roster, all eyes are looking at the 2026-27 season as an opportunity for the two superstars to show how dynamic they can be alongside one another.
With Davis returning before the end of the season, the two playmakers will have the chance to grow early chemistry to build on heading into a pivotal offseason.
