The Washington Wizards have high hopes for what their future holds, especially after the wave of moves for the team over the last couple months.

Not only has the Wizards' front office of general manager Will Dawkins and President of Monumental Basketball Michael Winger assembled one of he best young cores in the league, but they've quietly stacked the ammunition to put them in positions to make major swings when the right opportunity presented itself.

Undoubtedly, Washington felt that the opportunity to assemble a superstar duo of Trae Young and Anthony Davis ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February was one the team couldn't pass up.

Obviously, the duo has yet to hit the court, but the excitement from the fanbase proves that when the two stars do make their debuts for the Wizards, it will feel like a new era of Washington basketball has finally come after years of mediocre play.

Unfortunately, it seemed that the debut for the team's new duo would be held off until next season at the earliest as both players recovered from injuries suffered prior to their arrival in D.C and the fact that the Wizards remain in prime position to land a top draft pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

However, recent updates from general manager Will Dawkis suggests that not only could the duo's potential debut be closer than originally expected, but it's actually in the team's future plans to occur this season after all.

Dawkins reveals plans for Trae Young and Anthony Davis debuts

In a recent interview on The Sports Junkies radio show, Dawkins gave an update on both Young and Davis:

Young was recently cleared to increase on-court activities as of late and his recent post on social media hinted that a return to action could be on the horizon.

As for Davis, his recent arrival in Washington made it seem like a debut was unlikely considering he was still not cleared for any basketball activities.

Nonetheless, with the recent updates suggesting both players could be ramping things up soon, there's a real possibility that a debut for the star duo could come this season after all.

With Washington still clinging on to position at the bottom of the NBA standings, it's clear that neither player will be rushed to return.

At the same time, if they are cleared to return to action, it would be good to get an early start on building on-court chemistry ahead of the offseason.
