The Washington Wizards have seemingly been involved with nearly every rumor that's been leaked ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

Perhaps that stems from the team's sudden urge to prove aggressive on the trade front landing four-time All-Star Trae Young in a blockbuster trade to kick off trade season around the league.

Or it could simply stem from the fact that Washington's made it crystal clear that they're willing to both facilitate trades and absorb unwanted contracts if it deems them the opportunity to land addition draft capital or young talent.

Regardless, it's clear that all eyes are on the Wizards moving forward with their recent reputation of activity on the trade market.

However, one name in particular that Washington has been tied to over the course of the last few weeks no longer seems to be an option with recent reports suggesting the Wizards are heading in a different direction.

Wizards an unlikely suitor for Domantas Sabonis

Taking many be surprise, the Wizards were deemed as a suitor for Sacramento Kings' star big man Domantas Sabonis as the team continues to explore all options to retool their roster moving forward.

At first, the idea of landing the playmaking center seemed to be questionable considering the current state of their rebuild, the lucrative contract of Sabonis and the harsh reality that Washington likely wouldn't be an attractive landing spot anytime soon.

Despite that, the Wizards interest made many wonder if the team felt that a frontcourt option with immense upside as a facilitator is a route that Washington was looking to build their team around pairing Sabonis in the frontcourt with rising stars like Alex Sarr and Kyshawn George.

Not to mention the recent idea behind the potential upside pairing Sabonis alongside newly acquired star guard Trae Young.

Nonetheless, all indications based on Michael Scotto's recent report suggest that Washington's interest in Sabonis has faded with the team's previous interest only stemming from the possibility of being incentivized to do Sacramento a favor.

"Washington is not inclined to trade for Sabonis at this time," according to Scotto. "If Washington had been incentivized to take on Sabonis’ contract, the Wizards would’ve considered such an acquisition, HoopsHype has learned."

The 29-year-old Sabonis has only suited up for the Kings in 17 games this season, averaging 15.5 points, 11.4 frebounds and 4.2 assists, while shooting 53.9% from field goal range.

While the playmaker certainly offers upside to whichever team lands him, his fit with the Wizards seems unlikely.
