The Washington Wizards should trade Jordan Poole to the Dallas Mavericks while they still can.
As of the offseason rumors begin to swirl, recent reports surrounding the Wizards roster suggest that Washington could be considering moving on from guard Jordan Poole.

“Also worth noting — around the league, there’s growing belief that Jordan Poole could be moved, either on draft night or later this summer. That potential shake-up adds another layer to Washington’s… pic.twitter.com/QGcAfoKz3t
After a career-year in D.C., averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 assists and 3 rebounds, while shooting43.2% field goal and 37.8% from beyond the arc, Poole's contract is now deemed as one of the more favorable bargain deals on the market compared to last offseason when his contract was considered one of the worst in the the league.
Poole's only 25 years old and while he's been playing what many consider as "meaningless" basketball in Washington, he's proven to taken steps as both a primary ball handler and a leader throughout his two years with the Wizards.
If the Wizards truly are set on offloading the Michigan product's contract, it makes sense for them to turn their attention to a team who's desperately in need of backcourt help.
One squad in particular that makes the most sense for Poole would be the Dallas Mavericks who have been rumored to be in the market for a guard this offseason.
Mavs need Poole more than the Wizards do
With Kyrie Irving recovering from an ACL tear and obviously no more Luka magic in Dallas, general manager Nico Harrison is expected to scan the league for a guard that can not only fill the void until Irving is back, but can also contribute to winning moving forward.
One name that has commonly floated around for the Mavs is Boston Celtics' guard Jrue Holiday. However, Holiday's steep contract in comparison to his age could potentially influence the Mavericks to consider other options before sending out the salary fillers and draft compensation it would take to land a guard of Holiday's level.
Although Poole not be considered an All-Star level player (yet), he's shown throughout his tenure with the Golden State Warriors that he can contribute in a winning environment, whether that be in a starting role or as a sixth man.
Between his age, contract situation and production on the court this past season, a trade for Poole not only makes sense for the Mavericks, but for the Wizards who's likely seeking draft compensation and/or young players to add to their roster.
Wizards fans will likely begin to wonder if a package of Jordan Poole and the No. 6 overall pick could land them the No. 1 overall pick.
Although the deal sounds beneficial to both sides, it would probably be hard for Nico Harrison to take away both Luka Doncic and Cooper Flagg from Mavs' fans in a matter of months.
All that to say, if Poole is available, the first call from general manager Will Dawkins should be to Dallas.
