The NBA offseason is here and free agency is fully underway. However, two days in to the legal negotiating period, the Washington Wizards are one of the few teams who have yet to make a move.

With many players already on the move to new teams, there's been no shortage of action thus far through free agency.

However, with not a singular Shams Charania bomb linking a free agent to the WIzards it means two things.

First and foremost, it's clear that the Wizards aren't exactly an intriguing landing spot for free agents this offseason and not likely anytime in the forseeable future considering the current state of their rebuild.

Furthermore, Washington's front office isn't exactly opening up the checkbook right now to entice any of the top available guys like they did Jonas Valanciunas last offseason.

But why?

Washington may not be looked at as a team on the rise outside of the Wizards front office right now, but internally, the Wizards' front office has seemingly become increasingly with the current roster they've put together via trade and through the NBA Draft.

By no means does that mean the Wizards front office feels like contending for an NBA championship or even a play-in spot.

Nonetheless, the team's current roster construction has allowed for the Wizards to assemble a roster with a healthy balance of young players and veterans.

With the likes of Bilal Coulibaly, Alex Sarr, Bub Carrington, Kyshawn George, Tre Johnson, Will Riley and Jamir Watkins, the Wizards young core is in good shape.

Looking at the current veterans on the roster like Khris Middleton, Marcus Smart, CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk and Richaun Holmes, Washington could be sneaky competitive next season.

Obviously, it's doubtful that the team's roster looks the same come opening day, especially after the rumors that Marcus Smart is a prime candidate to be traded at some point this offseason.

However, it's also fair to assume that at least most of the current veterans on the roster will be a Wizard when the regular season swings around.

General manager Will Dawkins will almost certainly make some tweaks to the current roster in the coming days or weeks, but it's telling that the team didn't feel the need to go out and make a signing like they did last offseason with Valanciunas simply to get a veteran in the building at a position of need.

The Wizards could make a move at any second, but for now, they've yet to sign an outside free agent.
