The Washington Wizards are one team who not only has all eyes on them heading into the NBA Draft, but as the offseason unfolds beyond draft day,.

Washington currently holds the No. 6 and No. 18 overall picks in the first round of the draft as they look to add young talent to their team as their rebuild continues to take shape.

In addition to the current draft picks the Wizards have to alter their roster this offseason, they also have multiple veterans at their disposal that will almost certainly garner interest on the trade market.

The first name that comes to mind is Khris Middleton, who has championship experience that many contending teams or playoff hopeful squads will envy. However, the forward's steep contract could be a hard selling point for the Wizards to overcome, at least through the start of the offseason.

Richaun Holmes is another veteran that could gain interest on the market with his ability to be a quality reserve in the front court for almost any team in the league.

However, the one player that the Wizards may have the most interest in is former Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart.

Recent reports surrounding Smart's current situation in Washington suggests that the guard's time with the Wizards could be short-lived after being acquired in a deal with the Memphis Grizzlies ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February.

Heading into the offseason, it was somewhat expected that Smart would be moved, but the question of how soon was up in the air.

Smart could have been kept by the Wizards until next season's trade deadline in efforts to maximize his value to desperate teams hoping to make a championship push.

There was also the possibility that the veteran could be used as a trade chip ahead of the draft to either move up in the draft order, or potentially add additional picks.

Nonetheless, it seems that Washington could be eyeing a Smart move following the draft and free agency with the hopes that team's who strike out could come calling willing to meet Washington's asking price.

The guard still has plenty left in the tank and what he has to offer as a leader and glue player to impact winning can't be measured on a stat sheet.

Washington hopes to do right by him and send him to a contending team and with his team-friendly contract and talent, it could be an easy deal for the Wizards to complete by the end of the offseason.
