Wizards could use the Warriors' interest in Malcolm Brogdon to their advantage

The Washington Wizards have shown throughout this entire offseason that they're not afraid to pull the trigger on a deal that they feel can help them get one step closer to competing in the Eastern Conference.

Between the additions of CJ McCollum and Cam Whitmore, the Wizards have been involved with multiple trades over the last couple of months.

Prior to the addition of Whitmore, Washington was a team linked to one of the best restricted free agents on the market, Jonathan Kuminga.

After landing the former first-round pick from the Houston Rockets, the Wizards interest in Kuminga seemed to be dialed back considering they already managed to land a high-upside wing and a discounted price.

However, with the Golden State Warriors reported interest in Malcolm Brogdon in free agency, it could be exactly what the Wizards need to get themselves back in the sweepstakes to find a way to land Kuminga.

Considering recent rumors that the market for Kuminga is mainly a two team race between the Sacramento Kings and the Phoenix Suns, it's very telling that a deal has yet to be completed thus far.

Golden State remains reluctant to allow for Kuminga to walk for nothing and despite the former lottery pick's disinterest in returning to the Warriors, general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. has not budged when it comes to taking back a return he feels is not worth the departure of the talented forward.

The Warriors have even remained committed to putting their offseason on pause with the likes of free agents Al Horford, Gary Payton II and now potentially Malcolm Brogdon awaiting the Kuminga move to open up cap space and roster spots for more moves.

As a result, the Wizards could take advantage of the slow market to get themselves involved in the Kuminga sweepstakes once again.

The Wizards could explore the possibility of sending Brogdon to Golden State in a sign-and-trade deal in exchange for Kuminga by adding on additional draft compensation, Washington could put together one of the most underrated offseasons of any team in the league.

If Washington was able to make a deal work, they could roll out an underrated rotation on opening night of:

CJ McCollum
Bilal Coulibaly
Khris Middleton
Jonathan Kuminga
Alex Sarr

Bub Carrington
Tre Johnson
AJ Johnson
Cam Whitmore
Kyshawn George
Marvin Bagley III

The roster would certainly be talented and Washington could have to potentially offload additional players to make a Kuminga deal work, but the thought of adding another talented wing makes perfect sense.
