The Washington Wizards have plenty of young talent on the roster to be excited about heading into next season.
Between the incoming rookie class headlined by Tre Johnson, the offseason addition of veteran guard CJ McCollum and the underrated acquisition of former first-round pick Cam Whitmore, Washington's depth has quickly turned them into one of the most fun teams to watch heading into next season.
The idea of fun and the Wizards being in the same sentence is a win of its own, especially following their nightmare season this past year,
Nonetheless, with players like Bilal Coulibaly, Alex Sarr and Bub Carrington heading into a pivotal season next year with plenty of opportunities to prove why they were all lottery picks, the expectations are high for the team's young core.
With plenty of breakout candidates to monitor, there's more than one reason to be excited as the season quickly approaches.
However, one player that could be poised for the biggest breakout season of any player on the Wizards roster could be getting overlooked.
Kyshawn George could be in for a huge season
Kyshawn George showed plenty of flashes last season and he quickly turned into a fan favorite player that the Wizards' fanbase could get behind.
The Miami product always seemed to make the right play and his versatility on its own made him an enjoyable player to watch.
George's offensive potential between his underrated ability to score, handle the ball and create open shots for his teammates alone offered optimism about what his future holds in the DMV.
Despite that, it was clear from the jump that if he ever added more to his offensive aresenal as a scorer, specifically by improving his jumper, his ceiling could be extremely high.
Following his impressive play in Summer League and multiple solid performances for Team Canada in the FIBA AmeriCup, there's a real possibility that of any player to breakout next season, it could be George.
The forward has the size, basketball IQ and work ethic to be a vital piece for the Wizards rebuild and with his versatility making him a coaches dream for Brian Keefe, there will be plenty of opportunity for him to prove why Washington took the swing on his potential in the back half of the first round in the 2024 NBA Draft.
George has the tools to succeed and this coming season, he could put it all together.
