The Washington Wizards are a team on the rise and at this point, it's hard to argue with the fact the perception of the team has changed league-wide.
Not only has it become clear to star players like LeBron James that the team is building something special, but all basketball minds around the league are quickly beginning to catch on.
Obviously, the emergence of sophomore players like Alex Sarr and Kyshawn George are a major reason as to why.
Not to mention, the recent stretch for standout rookie Tre Johnson only adds to the excitement for the team moving forward.
Oh, and the obvious blockbuster moves ahead of the NBA trade deadline to form a superstar duo of Trae Young and Anthony Davis to lead the team out of their rebuilding phase next season.
Until then, the Wizards will have the opportunity to use the rest of this season to continue searching for talent across the league that not only fit the team's timeline, but the system that head coach Brian Keefe is looking to build in the DMV.
And based on the team's recent reputation to find hidden gems, it doesn't come as a surprise to see their latest flier already proving himself as a hit.
Alondes Williams shines in Wizards win
The Wizards continue to use their vacant roster spots to give talented prospects around the league the opportunity.
Throughout the team's flurry of 10-day signings over the last month, one name in specific stood out: Alondes Williams.
Williams found himself as a G-League All-Star, averaging 20.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.5 assists with shooting splits of 46.1% from field goal range and 43.5% from beyond the arc.
Since joining the team's active roster, it only took two games for the versatile guard to turn heads.
In Washington's 131-118 win over the Indiana Pacers on Friday night, the Wake Forest product not only led the team in scoring, but he also proved to be just as impactful on the glass.
Totaling 25 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, while shooting 9/11 from field goal range and 2/4 beyond the arc, it took 29 minutes for Williams to give the Wizards a reason to keep him around after his 10-day contract runs out.
At 26, Williams has plenty of potential for the Wizards to take a swing on.
And considering Washington's willingness to develop young players, Williams could be an ideal player to keep around.
