The Washington Wizards may be firmly in the midst of a rebuild, but it hasn't stopped the team's front office from being aggressive on the trade market.
After an offseason full of big trades, Washington continued their willingness to make moves with the first blockbuster trade of the regular season landing four-time All-Star Trae Young in a deal with the Atlanta Hawks.
Following the addition of Young, the Wizards roster is already undergoing major shakeups with the team's depth chart looking drastically different moving towards the NBA trade deadline in February,
However, general manager Will Dawkins and the team's decison makers may not be done making moves ahead of the deadline.
In fact, Washington may not just be looking to make minor moves, but instead the Wizards could be eyeing yet another blockbuster trade.
Wizards linked to Jonathan Kuminga
According to multiple reports from NBA Insiders Kevin O'Connell of Yahoo Sports and Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports, the Wizards continue to be linked to former lottery pick Jonathan Kuminga, who seems destined to be traded ahead of the trade deadline.
Kuminga was one of the most intriguing free agents available in the offseason, but the Golden State Warriors reluctancy to help facilitate a deal through the forward's restricted free agency eventually led to the former G-League Ignite star re-signing in Golden State.
Despite his decision to re-sign, it appeared evident that both sides mutually agreed to work towards a trade ahead of February's trade deadline if the fit in Golden State continued to trend in the wrong direction.
Up to this point, it's safe to say that Kuminga's fit in head coach Steve Kerr's system just simply isn't what's best for the 23-year-old's development or the Warriors' hopes to contend for an NBA championship.
Averaging 11.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists, while shooting 43.1% from field goal range and 32.0% from beyond the arc, Kuminga has regressed majorly through his first 18 games this season.
With a fresh start on the horizon, it doesn't come as a shock to see the Wizards revisiting their interest, especially with the likelihood that Kuminga's value is much lower than it was in the offseason.
Washington has veteran contracts such as Khris Middleton and multiple young prospects on the roster who could help get a deal over the finish line,
Regardless of what a package would look like, it's obvious that the Wizards have their sights set on additional moves, which suggest the team may not be done making blockbuster trades after the acquisition of Trae Young.
