The Washington Wizards season has been full of embarrassing moments, most of which came at the hands of blowout losses as their road to a top pick in the 2026 NBA Draft continues.
Through all of those unmemorable moments, Washington has still yet to have one more embarassing than the one Miami Heat star Bam Adebayo handed them in the first quarter in Tuesday night's matchup.
Not only did Adebayo prove to be the best player on the court in the first quarter against the Wizards Tuesday, but he showed that he could outperform Washington's entire roster himself.
Bam Adebayo outscores Wizards in first quarter
Adebayo's first half against the Wizards offered plenty of highlights.
In fact, the Kentucky product didn't just set a new career-high with his 43-point first half against Washington, but he set a franchise record for most points scored in a quarter with 31.

Obviously, the Wizards found themselves on the short end of the stick in Adebayo's insane start, but it may not have looked as bad if they managed to not be outscored as a team.
With only 28 points as team in the first, Adebayo's big night immediately put all eyes on the Wizards, who could consider this night as arguably one of the most embarassing moments of not just the season, but in franchise history.
Wizards on the wrong end of history
There's no doubt that the future in Washington is bright with the new superstar duo of Trae Young and Anthony Davis, especially with the young talent on the roster already.
Still, Adebayo's historic night will be talked about for awhile, and when its brought up, Washington will certainly be mentioned in the conversation.
Washington certainly will receive some backlash for allowing a player like Adebayo, who's not often considered a big time scorer, explode for 31 points in a quarter and 43 points in a half.
However, some nights, especially in the NBA, it's easy to get lost in the fact that every player in the league is just that good.
Of course the Wizards could have made some plays differently both offensively and defensively to keep this historic night from hitting nearly every basketball news outlet there is, but at the end of the day, Adebayo looked like a man on a mission from tip off.
Regardless, until things settle down, there's no doubt that this should be considered the most embarassing moment for the team's season.
