The Washington Wizards are in the driver seat for the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft this upcoming offseason.
Originally, it was believed that whoever landed the top pick would undoubtedbly get the chance to alter their franchise by drafting generational talent Cooper Flagg from Duke. However, there seems to be growing concerns that the freshman sensation could be headed back to college for another season, especially if a team like the Wizards earns the top pick.
In what could be a nightmare scenario for Washington, the Wizards will quickly have to pivot their offseason plans and potentially their entire rebuid, especially if they were eyeing Flagg all along.
That said, here's a look at what the Wizards draft could look like if Flagg does indeed stay put at Duke.
Round 1, Pick 1: Dylan Harper (Rutgers, PG/SG)
Dylan Harper seems to be far and away the next best prospect behind Duke's Cooper Flagg. The versatile guard is averaging 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4 assists up to this point of his freshman season. The 6-foot-6 playmaker has the ability to score at will, but he can also pick apart opposing defenses with his basketball IQ and underrated passing ability.
If Flagg isn't there, the safest pivot is Harper.
Round 1, Pick 24 (via MEM): Isaiah Evans (Duke, SF)
Isaiah Evans has started only one game for Duke during his freshman season this year, but he's showed flashes of his ability in each of the 29 games he's played in. Shooting an efficient 45.3% from field goal range and 44.7% from beyond the arc from the wing, Evans could be an interesting prospect in the back half of the first-round.
Round 2, Pick 44 (via PHX): Darrion Williams (Texas Tech, SG)
Darrion Williams is one of the more experienced prospects in the draft, but he's undeniably talented. The Texas Tech product is a three-level scorer and he has the size and athleticism to prevent himself from being a liability on the defensive end.
With the tools to develop into a key role player and maybe more, he could be an underrated pick for the Wizards.
Round 2, Pick 48 (via DET): Alex Karaban (UConn, SF/PF)
Like Williams, Alex Karaban is in the midst of his third season in college, where he's proven he can be a reliable stretch big. The junior is putting together a career-year in his final season in college, averaging 14.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists as a key piece to the Huskies starting lineup.
He could be an underrated pick for the Wizards in round 2.
Round 2, Pick 50 (via GSW): Zvonimir Ivisic (Arkansas, C)
Zvonimir Ivisic is a raw talent, but at 7-foot-2, the Arkansas center is the type of player a second-round flier is absolutely worth. The big man can stretch the floor, but he's also shown flashes of crafty finishing around the rim. Not to mention he averaged 2 blocks per game for the Razborbacks this season.
With Washington needed front court depth, Ivisic could be worth their final pick to develop.
