The Washington Wizards have made plenty of moves this offseason and with a revamped roster, all eyes turn to what areas Brian Keefe's squad could make the biggest leap this coming season.
Washington has been aggressive this offseason and with plenty of roster shake up courtesy of general manager Will Dawkins' decisions, the Wizards will look vastly different when the regular season begins.
With the additions of CJ McCollum and Tre Johnson in the backcourt, there's plenty of hype surrounding how good the Wizards' new-look backcourt could be.
And while that's a fair thought to have, the team's retooled backcourt could be overshadowing just how impactful the team's new-look front court could be.
Heading into Alex Sarr's sophomore season , Washington has high hopes for the leap that the former No. 2 overall pick can emerge and show flashes of the reason the team selected the French product so high in the 2024 NBA Draft.
If Sarr can improve his offensive efficiency and simply prove capable of posing a threat in the paint like a typical 7-foot big man can do, that alone will be a huge improvement from his rookie campaign, where he struggled to do simple things offensively.
Meanwhile, the addition of Cam Whitmore, who could be a huge boost in his new role with the Wizards could prove to be one of the most overshadowed trades of the offseason, especially if the former Villanova star an prove to be the player he entered the league with the potential to develop into.
Not to mention another incoming rookie wing in Will Riley, who impressed during his lone season at Illinois. The oversized guard is a raw prospect, but his polished offensive game and next-level IQ could allow for him to hit the ground running if Washington can find minutes from the jump for him to develop.
Bilal Coulibaly is another player that could find himself in the front court making an impact, especialy with the flurry of talent added to the crowded backcourt of the Wizards.
With Khris Middleton set to serve as the veteran to the young group, Washington's front court has the talent and versatility to be a nightmare for opposing team's if/when they're able to click.
While the Wizards may not have the most talented front court in the league, the offseason work by Dawkins and Washington's front office has allowed for them to assemble a high-upside position group on the depth chart as the season looms.
