The Washington Wizards rebuild has been ongoing over the course of the last few years after the organization seemingly refused to push the restart button after continous signs the time had come.
From seeing John Wall's career taking a drastic turn due to injury, wasting the prime of Bradley Beal's career and missing the opportunity to sell high on the lkes of Kristaps Porzingis and Kyle Kuzma, there's no doubt Washington put themselves in the position to behind the eight ball.
Fortunately, when the team made the choice to officially reset starting from the top, their decision to hire the front office regime of general manager Will Dawkins and President of Monumental Basketball Michael Winger has looked better by the second.
Now, with one of the most promising young cores in the league, an abundance of assets and a new superstar duo in Trae Young and Anthony Davis, the Wizards have completely altered their future and perception of them league-wide.
Moving forward, it's clear the Wizards have their sights set on the 2026-27 season as a realistic chance to compete in the Eastern Conference.
At the same time, Washington also has their sights set on a top draft pick in the 2026 NBA Draft this offseason.
With the second-worst record in the league, it seems as if Washington has more than a realistic chance to put together their dream offseason by landing a premiere talent to officially put an end to their rebuild.
And based on the latest reports surrounding Adam Silver's expected efforts to put an end to the ongoing tanking issue across the league, it may be the perfect time for the Wizards to wrap up their rebuild.
Adam Silver set to enforce anti-tanking rules next season
According to a recent report from ESPN's NBA insider Shams Charania, the league has officially been put on notice that changes are coming.
"Commissioner Adam Silver informed the league's 30 general managers on Thursday that the NBA plans to make anti-tanking rule changes for next season," Charania reported. "Stakeholders have intensified dialogue about combatting tanking."
With Michael Winger already announcing that the team is officially done with the "reconstruction phase" of their rebuild, landing a top talent this offseason will only be the cherry on top.
Moving forward behind the leadership of their new star duo, an emerging young core and a bright young head coach, it seems as if the Wizards may have put the finishing touches on their rebuild at the perfect time.
