The Washington Wizards rebuild has been ongoing for the last several years and it's finally starting to come to a head.

General manager Will Dawkins and President of Monumental Basketball Michael Winger have combined to make several intriguing moves, two of which came ahead of the NBA trade deadline earlier this month.

The acquisitions of four-time All-Star Trae Young and former NBA champion Anthony Davis, Washington only added fuel to hype train that has already picked up plenty of steam over the last few months.

Between the sophomore leaps of Alex Sarr and Kyshawn George, the recent breakout stretch of rookie guard Tre Johnson and the pairing of a new superstar duo to lead the team to the next step of their rebuild, Washington has plenty of eyes on them.

One individual in specific who's attention the Wizards have caught is future Hall of Famer LeBron James, who's opinion on the rising team is exactly what fans have been waiting years to hear.

LeBron James acknowledges Wizards' young pieces

In a recent episode of the Mind the Game podcast, James shared his honest thoughts on the Wizards following the trade deadline.

Not only did James' reveal his interest on the new superstar pairing of Young and Davis, but he shared how intrigued he was with the young players on the team's roster.

"I love the young kid they have from France (Alex Sarr), love the kid [Kyshawn] George and also the rookie kid they got from Texas.. [Tre] Johnson)."

James didn't stop there.

In fact, the pending free agent continued his glowing reviews about the position the Wizards are in and the direction they're headed:

"You know they have some pieces," the four-time MVP said. "And I think for the first time in a few years we can say that Washington has grabbed some pieces"

Beyond the pieces the Wizards already have on the roster, Washington still has a golden opportunity to add yet another premiere prospect to their core this offseason if they're able to avoid the anti-tanking proposals that could hinder their positioning in the 2026 NBA Draft.

However, the fact that the Wizards rebuild has caught the attention of LebBron James of all people speaks volumes on its own.

For years, Washington has been viewed as the laughing stock of the league.

Now, the Wizards have one of the best young cores in the league, a new star duo and plenty of momentum behind the long-term vision of the new front office regime.

Times are changing in D.C. and for the first time in a long time, it feels like Washington Wizards basketball is back.
