The Washington Wizards are expected to be active ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February.

Washington's slow start to the season has put the team in position to make tough decisions moving forward not only due to the team's inconsistent play, but the fact that several young prospects are proving they not be worth sticking around for the long haul with the Wizards.

All that to say, Washington could be forced to face the harsh reality that the team's current roster construction is not close to helping the Wizards take the appropriate steps in the rebuild that they hoped could be taken this season.

As a result, the Wizards may be positioning themselves to make a move that could allow them to land a pivotal player for their rebuild.

With names like Domantas Sabonis and Darius Garland already linked to the Wizards, it's clear that Washington could be looking to make a splash ahead of February's deadline.

However, of the rumors swirling, perhaps none could make as much sense as this recent trade scenario from Bleacher Report.

Bleacher Report projects a blockbuster trade for the Wizards

In a recent article from Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley, each team was give one trade scenario that every squad would make if the trade deadline were today.

For the Wizards, Buckley put together a projected deal that Washington would jump at the opportunity to make happen.

A look at the deal below:

Warriors receive: CJ McCollum
Wizards receive: Jonathan Kuminga, Buddy Hield and 2030 second-round pick

The hypothetical trade allows for the Wizards to find an answer to their CJ McCollum problem by moving on from the veteran's steep contract.

In turn, Washington lands an elite young talent in Jonathan Kuminga, who Washington already showed interest in this offseason.

Alongside Kuminga, Washington would land a sharpshooter in Buddy Hield, who would also likely garner separate trade interest if made available and additional draft compensation to add to their abundance of future draft capital.

For Washington to find a way to net a positive return in exchange for McCollum, there seems to be no down-side to this deal for the Wizards.

If someway general manager Will Dawkins managed to swing this deal ahead of the deadline, a frontcourt consisting of Kyshawn George, Alex Sarr and now Kuminga would have extreme upside for the team's rebuild.

This scenario is a deal that the Wizards would jump at the opportunity to make.
