The Washington Wizards' front office has made it crystal clear that when it comes to making moves, they're not afraid to pull the trigger if they believe it will get them one step closer to competing in the Eastern Conference.

After a flurry of in-season moves, headlined by the blockbuster additions of Trae Young and Anthony Davis ahead of the NBA trade deadline, it's become obvious that Washington has their sights set on next season as a realistic goal to contend in the East.

With that being said, there's an overwhelming belief that the Wizards could be looking to make a shift at the top of their roster, with head coach Brian Keefe becoming a candidate for the team to move on from this offseason.

To make those rumbles even louder, NBA insider Jake Fischer's recent report about the team's interest in top coaching candidate Taylor Jenkins only added fuel to the fire.

Wizards interested in Taylor Jenkins

In a recent briefing from the People's Insider Jake Fischer, Washington is still up in the air about Keefe's future in D.C, but that hasn't stopped the team from gauging interest on the opening market.

"There have also been whispers for months that Washington would have strong interest in Jenkins if the Wizards decide to move on from Brian Keefe," Fischer reported. "Yet there has likewise been recent pushback emanating from the nation's capital to suggest that the Wizards are still deciding whether to keep Keefe in place for what would be his fourth season."

Jenkins has been one of the top targets for several teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks, who are considering a move from Hall of Famer Doc Rivers in what many expect to be a busy offseason regarding the coaching carousel.

After being abruptly fired by the Memphis Grizzlies, it's safe to say it's a bit shocking that Jenkins is still looking for a job, but based on recent reports, he'll likely be off the market by the end of the offseason.

A head coaching change for Washington wouldn't exactly be a surprise

Keefe has certainly gone through some growing pains during his tenure in D.C., but considering the role Washington needed him to play at the time, the developmental head coach played a pivotal part in the team's rebuild.

Still, for a team hoping to take a giant step forward, it may come at the hands of a head coach whose already added a playoff experience with a young team on his resume.

All that to say, if the Wizards do make a move away from Keefe, fans shouldn't exactly be surprised.
