Wizards may have an ideal trade partner to target for big offseason moves

Any possibility for the Washington Wizards to land a talent like Paolo Banchero would be a no-brainer, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem like a possibility any time soon.

Fortunately for Washington, the Orlando Magic's postseason collapse may have gifted the Wizards the perfect trade partner to target this offseason, especially with a new head coach set to enter the picture.

Washington has several needs to fill, an uncertainty surrounding the future of Anthony Davis, and the Magic have several players who could interest a team like the Wizards.

And with the recent news surrounding the likelihood that the Magic look to shake things up this offseason, general manager Will Dawkins should be monitoring the scene.

Paolo Banchero is the dream, but not a realistic one

The idea of pairing Banchero up with Trae Young and Alex Sarr would be ideal, especially if it came at the expense of Davis, who doesn't seem to have his sights set on staying in the DMV for the long-term.

Adding a talented player like Banchero, though, is just that: a dream.

Orlando likely won't move on from the former No. 1 overall pick this soon in the process, but it wouldn't hurt for the Wizards to give them a call to check in on either Banchero or Franz Wagner.

If neither are available and Davis still wants out, the Magic could build a package that's enticing enough for the Wizards to send AD to Orlando.

Wizards could consider sending AD to ORL for blockbuster package

Obviously, Washington would prefer not to move on from Davis, but if the big man forces the team's hand, they'll have to listen to offers.

The Magic aren't close to contending, and they know they'll have to make changes to get over the hump.

A swing for Davis would make sense and with the rumors that Orlando could be set to move on from former lottery pick Jalen Suggs, the Wizards could have interest in acquiring the defensive playmaker to pair alongside Trae Young.

For Washington, a potential package of Jalen Suggs, Wendell Carter Jr., and a filler like Tristan da Silva for AD could make sense for the Wizards to keep their plans to compete for a playoff berth alive, while cutting their losses with Davis.

Regardless of what deal Dawkins could put together, it's safe to say that, based on the current state of the two organizations, it could do both sides good to touch base on potential frameworks for an offseason deal.
