Wizards have several ideal trade targets who already have history with Trae Young

The Washington Wizards have plans to compete next season, and with their aggressiveness on the trade market over the last couple of seasons, it's clear the team won't be shy to make a move if they deem it makes them better.

With Trae Young set to man the offense next season, it would make perfect sense for the team to target players with whom the star guard has a history with.

Considering the lengthy stint with the Atlanta Hawks, including a run to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021, several candidates could be available to not only fill a void on the roster but pick up where they left off alongside Young.

F De'Andre Hunter, Sacramento Kings

De'Andre Hunter certainly will be among the most expensive options on this list, but he's arguably the most impactful.

The two-way wing has proven to be a winning player during his time with the Atlanta Hawks and Cleveland Cavaliers and it stems from his success at Virginia, where he helped the ACC squad win a National Championship in 2019.

Set to make $24 million next season in Sacramento, Washington would only make a move this big if they believed the forward could help them make a leap in the East.

Still, the 28-year-old has plenty left in the tank, and his 13.7 points per game this past season could put him at a discounted price if Washington truly is interested.

G Bogdan Bogdonovanic, LA Clippers

Bogdan Bogdanovic is the oldest player on this list, but he's also one of the best bench options in the league.

The guard has made a career for himself as a savvy scorer, whether that be in a bench role or in starting minutes.

Bogdonavic has been impactful throughout his entire career, with stops in Sacramento, Atlanta, and most recently Los Angeles.

If the Wizards were interested in adding guard depth, Bogdonavic would be an ideal candidate.

F Saddiq Bey, New Orleans Saints

This past season Saddiq Bey looked like one of the Wizards biggest whiffs in recent memory.

After offloading the wing in an offseason trade with the New Orleans Pelicans alongside Jordan Poole, Bey's tenure in Washington came to an end before the Villanova product ever got the chance to hit the floor.

The forward is fully recovered from his torn ACL that caused him to miss the entire season with the Wizards in 2024-25, and after posting a career-year in NOLA, averaging 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists, Bey may be the best option on this list.
