Entering Monday night's matchup against the Charlotte Hornets, the Washington Wizards had a rare opportunity (for them) to start up a winning streak of their own.
Following Saturday's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Washington carried their confidence on the road with them to Buzz City and found a way to stun the Hornets with a 124-114 win. The Wizards put together one of their best shooting performances of the season and their two-game winning streak improves their horrid record to 8-41.
While winning is fun, arguably the most positive note coming from Monday's win could be the fact that the team's top trade assets put together solid games ahead of the NBA trade deadline on Thursday.
That said, here's a look at the top 3 performers against the Hornets that could have raised their trade value in the win.
Kyle Kuzma puts together another solid night on offense
Kyle Kuzma is arguably the top candidate to be moved ahead of Thursday's deadline considering his recent comments about his frustration with the team's losing habits. However, the forward showed out on Saturday against the T-Wolves and he put together another solid outing against Charlotte that helped Washington snag their second-straight win.
The 29-year-old finished with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists while shooting 8/21 from field goal range. Overlooking his 3/13 shooting from three, Kuzma's aggression on offense sparked a hot night for the rest of the Wizards.
Jonas Valanciunas shines in second-straight start
Jonas Valanciunas has been one of the more reliable options for the Wizards this season whether it's been off the bench or in a spot start. The big man proved his value on Monday with yet another impressive outing against a young Hornets team.
The Wizards center racked up 14 points and 17 rebounds to pair alongside 4 assists. A more than solid outing for a 32-year-old veteran.
Malcolm Brogdon adds to his trade value in bench role
Another trade candidate that took the chance to shine for the Wizards on Monday was Malcolm Brogdon. The guard totaled 17 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds in only 22 minutes of play.
As Brogdon returns from injury, he continues to prove that he could be an immediate boost to contending teams which could bode well for the Wizards if teams inquire ahead of the deadline on Thursday,
The Wizards return to action on Wednesday against the Brooklyn Nets.
