Wizards Prevail in Wittman Debut

AUTHOR: | IN: Recaps | COMMENTS: No Comments

The Randy Wittman era began exactly how it was supposed to, a victory over an awful team who was also decimated by injuries to key (in comparison to the rest of their team) players. There was no DJ Augustine, no Gerald Henderson, no Corey Maggette and no Reggie Williams , who has missed the entire season so far. Nonetheless it was a 92-75 victory for the Washington Wizards.

State of the Wizards

AUTHOR: | IN: The Corner of 7th and F | COMMENTS: No Comments

In the State of the Union spirit, I have decided to delve into the Washington Wizards and give a State of the Wizards. While it may be less important that what the President has to say, there’s no denying that the Wizards are far more interesting and entertaining. So at least they have that going for them. . .

The Third Time Is Not The Charm

AUTHOR: | IN: Recaps | COMMENTS: No Comments

Before I get on with the depressing recap of the Wizards-76ers game from tonight I want to do a quick little introduction, as this is my first post for Wiz of Awes. I was born and raised in Chevy Chase, MD and have been a diehard Wizards fan my whole life. Currently I am a sophomore at the University of Miami. I ran a blog last year called Momentum Three, where I did a good amount of Wizards coverage, but I am excited to cover and write about Les Boulez full time here. I love Gilbert Arenas, and my favorite Wizards moment was watching him drill the game winning three against the Bucks live at the Phone Booth. I hate Andray Blatche, I think Flip and Ernie need to go, I am a big supporter of the #FreeBooker movement, I believe that winning meaningless games at the ends of seasons is meaningless, and I am always willing to chat about the Wizards, or any sport for that matter on Twitter. You can find me at @matthouston91. So without further adieu let’s get sad and depressed about the Wizards, together!

Well…at least the Wizards only play the 76ers one more time?

Wizards Not Able to Get the Gold

AUTHOR: | IN: Recaps | COMMENTS: No Comments

On a night that began with Nick Young being on fire and 37 first quarter points for the Wizards, the Wizards weren’t able to close the deal against the Denver Nuggets. However, the positives were abundant for the Wizards.

A Special Night

AUTHOR: | IN: Recaps | COMMENTS: No Comments

Raise your hand if you saw the 1-12 Washington Wizards upsetting the 12-2 Oklahoma City Thunder led by district native Kevin Durant?

If you raised your hand you were either joking or a prophet, but regardless, you were right!

Andray Blatche: A Symbol of the Wizards’ Failings

AUTHOR: | IN: Wizards | COMMENTS: No Comments

In a news shock to no one that knows anything about the Washington Wizards, Andray Blatche prior to his “shoulder injury” has been an issue. Not only is he a huge problem for a 1-10 team, but he’s the face of the Wizards’ struggles.

I have been Blatche’s biggest critic and I can blame him for taking remarkably stupid jump shots, calling out his teammates on twitter, playing no defense, showing no heart, and all the other stupid things Andray Blatche does. But I can’t blame him for giving himself minutes. Continue reading this post »

No Wins, but Progress Made

AUTHOR: | IN: Recaps | COMMENTS: No Comments

After losing two straight games on back-to-back days to the Boston Celtics, the Wizards sit at 0-5 and are the only winless team in the NBA. So far, the team has forgotten that Roger Mason is on the team, Andray Blatche has called out people on twitter after one game, and Flip Saunders was ejected less than two minutes into a game, but it may not be all bad, so let’s take a look at some of the silver linings through the first five games of the season. Should the Wizards Be Interested In DeMarcus Cousins?

AUTHOR: | IN: Wizards | COMMENTS: No Comments

It was reported recently that the temper-tantrum prone and attitudinal Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins demanded a trade during yet another shouting match with head coach Paul Westphal. Almost instantly, Wizards fans began thinking of a way to match the incredibly talented Cousins with his college teammate, John Wall. Rebuilding Has Yet to Begin

AUTHOR: | IN: Wizards | COMMENTS: No Comments

Rebuilding.

It’s a dirty word in sports that is often synonymous with a few years of mediocrity or irrelevance while the team cleans house and lays a new foundation. The idea being that once a team goes through this massive organizational overhaul one time, that’ll be it, and any future changes that need to be made will be more akin to remodeling.
