The Washington Wizards are not just Durant’s hometown team, but also a team that gives him one of the best chances to win an NBA championship

After the Oklahoma City Thunder’s heart-breaking loss in the Western Conference finals, Kevin Durant is weighing all of his options.

He is looking for the best team that can not only get him to the NBA Finals, but also get himself a championship ring and his name alongside the all-time greats.

The Washington Wizards struggled a bit last year due to injuries, but just two years ago they proved they were another all-star player away from making a Finals push.

The Wizards will have a 100 percent healthy John Wall after he got his knee taken care of in May. They also plan on locking down all-star caliber shooting guard, Bradley Beal.

With Kevin Durant’s old coach Scott Brooks taking over, Durant would have no problem fitting into Washington’s plan for the future.

Wall had surgery this past month to repair some damage in his left knee that caused him discomfort and he missed some time at the end of the 2015-16 season. He removed his name from the Team USA roster and is focused on getting the Wizards back to the Playoffs.

Wall says he plans to meet his full potential this season after coming off two years with more than 10 assists per game. He has been a floor general on the court and has grown into a leader in the nation’s capital. That is exactly what the best scorer in the league – Kevin Durant – needs.

While Durant hasn’t had a problem scoring the ball along side Russell Westbrook, it’s no secret that the duo doesn’t mesh well late in games, which is primarily the reason they failed to close the Golden State Warriors out in seven.

Having the best facilitator in the world next to Durant would be scary, to say the least. His inability to get clean looks would instantly vanish. Wall has improved the games of virtually all of his teammates, so one could only imagine how well Durant would play along side Wall.

Bradley Beal would also take pressure off Durant on the offensive end of the floor, especially in clutch situations.

The Washington Wizards are likely going to sign Beal to a max contract and he is going to have a lot to prove this season. He has shown flashes of stardom in his first four seasons, but he’s coming off another injury riddled year.

When healthy, though, Beal can be a phenomenal third option and comparable to what James Harden was for the Thunder in 2011-2012.

Durant never had a star shooting guard or even really a third scoring option since Harden. He had Serge Ibaka and Steven Adams, but they were largely dependent on the two stars. The next best option was an extremely inconsistent Dion Waiters, but not much else.

We all saw how good Russel Westbrook, James Harden, and Kevin Durant were even at a young age when they reached the 2012 NBA Finals.

Imagine Wall and Durant going into the prime of their careers with an young up-and-coming stud in Beal.

The head coach of that young Thunder team who just so happens to be the Wizards’ current coach, Scott Brooks, would have a field day.

Brooks originally came to DC to help improve young talent, but also to get the Wizards back to the playoffs.

With a big three consisting of Beal, Durant, and Wall, Brooks would have no problem making the Washington Wizards championship contenders in his first season.

It certainly doesn’t hurt that Durant would avoid the likes of Golden State and San Antonio in the playoffs. Realistically, the Cavaliers would only be their competition, making the route to the Finals that much easier for Durant.

Getting Kevin Durant to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder is going to be a very hard task for any team. It is going to take the perfect fit and give Durant the best chance to win an NBA championship as soon as possible.

Luckily for us, the Washington Wizards are the perfect fit for Kevin Durant outside of maybe Oklahoma City. The Wizards have one the best passers and leaders in the league in John Wall. They have a young up-and-coming roster getting groomed by the same coach that groomed Durant himself.

To top things off, Washington D.C. is always going to be Kevin Durant’s first home.

It might seem unrealistic right now, but the Wizards actually might be the best available fit for Durant.
