Nene and Kris Humphries: Three-point shooting

Ah, yes. We finally get to the stretch four position that seems to be on everyone’s mind, not just in the Washington Wizards organization, but around the league.

Big men like Spencer Hawes have become legit three point threats for their teams. More and more stats around the league are showing that once teams implement ‘the stretch 4’ into their game plan, the offense flows better.

Just by looking at Nene and Kris Humphries, they both look big enough to only be rebounding and providing muscle plays for the Washington Wizards.

Nene has been one of the strongest guys in the league for his career and Humphries has had a few 20 rebound games in the past few seasons. Well, after the Wizards saw some success using Pierce as a stretch 4 in the playoffs, Wittman went with the small lineup more often and saw great success.

The Wizards almost made the Eastern Conference Finals riding that small lineup. Nene and Humphries noticed. Humphries mentioned in his exit interview that he would try and work on his three-point shooting to play the role of the stretch 4:

"“I never really worked on shooting threes and stuff. I started working on it this year…I had a lot of success in the last month (practicing) or so I really working on it every day, continue to work on it next year, add to my game.”"

Honestly, both have a pretty good mid-range shot, but being able to hit the three consistently within the offense is a pretty hard thing to pick up. Humphries mentioned that his three point game was getting better as he practiced it during the playoffs.

We’ll see if Humphries or Nene are going to adapt to the changing game.
