I love CJ McCollum’s confidence.

Earlier this season, McCollum said, “When I got out of bed from my nap at about 3:15; that’s when I felt like they couldn’t guard me” (Blazer’s Edge).

He then proceeded to drop 39 points on the Denver Nuggets.

It wasn’t always like this. He didn’t regularly start for the Trail Blazers until the start of last season, where his deadly shooting became common knowledge. Increasing his scoring average 14 points, McCollum became the NBA’s Most Improved Player that season.

CJ developed his scoring off the dribble and finishing at the rim, but he’s very efficient when running off screens and creating open shots that way. A pure scorer who is the perfect complement for Damian Lillard. Together, averaging 50 PPG – which led all NBA backcourts – teams must ask: Who do you guard?
