Washington Wizards management appeared to be done for the offseason, but then on Thursday, they showed that they are still in active pursuit of players they believe will help the roster next season. The 18th player on the roster is now Donald Sloan.

Welcome the newest Wizard, Donald Sloan. According to the Washington Post, Sloan will join the team for training camp on a one-year deal. As he is the 18th person on the roster, he will have to battle for a roster spot.

The NBA instituted a new two-way player rule, allowing teams to carry a total of 17 players, with two spending time in both the G-League and the NBA. The Wizards already have two players, Devin Robinson and Michael Young, who have been signed to “two-way” contracts.

Back to Sloan though, he spent last season playing in the Chinese Basketball Association. Sloan is probably best know for his time starting for the Pacers in 2014-15, while the Pacers suffered a number of injuries to their starters, including Paul George, who was recovering from his broken leg.

During that season, he started 21 games, and averaged 7.4 points and 3.6 assists per game. That season he only shot 31% from three, but the next season in Brooklyn, the percentage rose to 38%. For his career, he is a 31% three-point shooter.

The signing of Sloan isn’t going to do much to move the needle, but it will be nice to have veterans in training camp to push the young players.

The point guard committee in Washington now includes John Wall, Tim Frazier, Tomas Satoransky, and Sloan.
