Anthony Davis has been in the headlines over the last couple of weeks, with most of his viral comments stemming from his thoughts on his future with the Washington Wizards.

The team's newest star has given glowing reviews about the organization and the city itself, but when it comes to the future of the team, he's made it clear that he believes the possibility of competing anytime soon is minimal.

To make matters worse, his latest comments about the team on an episode of Glass Half Full may leave a mark on the fanbase.

Anthony Davis calls Wizards a "bad basketball team"

Davis shared his brutal thoughts about Washington during an interview with the Today Show's Craig Melvin, and to say the star gave his honest opinion would be an understatement.

"We are a very bad basketball team for sure," Davis said. "It's very tough to go from a bad team to a championship contender."

These comments may not be a surprise to some, but considering they come just weeks after AD's thoughts on the young talent and how the team has some players who can "really play", it's hard to fathom how you can justify the big man staying in D.C. if he truly feels like the Wizards are just a bad team.

Davis wants to play for a contender

The 33-year-old has made it crystal clear that he wants to play for a contender, and with him openly saying it takes time for a bad team to become a contender, he's indirectly saying it will take the Wizards time that he isn't willing to offer.

AD has put together a Hall of Fame career, but he still has more accolades on his radar, and if he doesn't believe that Washington gives him the best chance to accomplish those things, there's no doubt that he'll put his career over an organization he has no loyalty to.

Obviously, Washington could make a bold swing like an offseason acquisition of Kevin Durant to help convince Davis that they're serious about competing now, but even then, that's a bold swing just to persuade an injury-prone player to buy into something he seems like he's already hesitant about.

Add on the fact that the big man has raised some eyebrows with his activity on social media, it's hard to truly believe that he'll be willing to lead the charge in a Wizards turnaround, at least not with comments like these.
