There's no denying that the Washington Wizards are more than just one player away from competing in the Eastern Conference.

After years of finding themselves in the bottom of the NBA standings, Washington finally committed to the long-awaited rebuilding process with the hopes of putting an end to the constant cycle of mediocricy.

Throughout the last few years. Washington's struggles have led the team to earn several lottery picks to help them retool their roster as the road to the rebuild restarts.

As a result, the Wizards have landed several high-upside prospects to assemble one of the brightest young cores in the league, even if their underwhelming record doesn't resemble it.

Looking at Alex Sarr and Kyshawn George, who are in the midst of sophomore leaps that are giving the Wizards hope for the future, it's clear the Wizards have found multiple promising pieces for the future.

In addition, the team has several other intriguing talents like first-year man Tre Johnson, Bilal Coulibaly, and even Cam Whitmore, who joined the Wizards this offseason.

The lone player not mentioned that fans are likely wondering why he was left out is Bub Carrington.

Carrington was selected with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft as a raw prospect out of Pittsburgh.

The guard has shown flashes of his potential, but in terms of the likelihood that he has the ability to develop into the point guard of the future that the Wizards hoped he could, seemingly all hope has ben lost.

Which leads us to the harsh reality that the Wizards are forced to deal with.

Washington has a glaring hole at PG

The Wizards have a major weakness on the roster with no answer at the point guard decision.

Washington hoped that Carrington could be their answer entering the season, but the playmaker's sophomore slump has made it clear that the chances he could be the answer is slim to none.

As a result, the Wizards will need to look elsewhere for answers, whether that's making a blockbuster trade ahead of the NBA trade deadline in February, or taking a swing on a talented prospect in need of a fresh start.

Regardless, the impact of having an adequate point guard on the roster could be the difference between finally making a leap in the East or even getting one step closer to having an All-Star caliber player on the roster.

Until the Wizards find an fix to their most obvious question on the roster, Washington will be forced to deal with the consequences of underwhelming point guard play.,
