Cam Whitmore's talent makes him one of the most intriguing prospects on the Washington Wizards heading into next season, but his talent alone may not be the differece maker when it comes to his fresh start.

Since arriving in the NBA, the Villanova product has shown flashes that he could be a game changer in the right situation.

Whitmore's ability to score at will, mixed with his unreal athleticism makes him one of the most unique talents in the league.

During his tenure in Houston, the forward's costly mistakes and poor decision making resulted in head coach Ime Udoka limiting his minutes.

Those normal woes for a young player weren't the problem, but instead his immature actions and dwelling on the bench is what caused the Rockets and general manager Rafael Stone to decide a change of scenery for both sides would be beneficial.

For Houston, opening up a roster spot for players who were eager to buy-in on a contending team, even if it came with minimal playing time was appealing.

Meanwhile, for Whitmore, a chance to land on a roster that gave him the opportunity to showcase the potential he entered the league with is exactly what he was hoping for.

However, the Maryland native probably never could have never envisoned that his next opportunity would come with the Wizards, his hometown team.

As a DMV native, it's clear that Whitmore's new home means more to him than just a career at this point.

The city on his chest means more to him than just a paycheck and now that he has the opportunity to not only represent the hometown team he grew up watching, but prove that he can be a premiere young player in the league, Whitmore could be prepared for a breakout.

Talent wise, Whitmore has every skillset and tool needed to be a cornerstone.

Obviously, like every young player, the wing has weaknesses in his game that need to be addressed.

Nonetheless, on a roster like the Wizards, development is the top priority and that's exactly the type of situation that Whitmore hoped to land in.

Everything essential for the former college star to breakout is at his disposal and at the end of the day, he'll have to earn the opportunity to show out on Brian Keefe's squad.

Regardless, the circumstances couldn't be better for not only Whitmore, but the Wizards moving forward.
