Kyshawn George has been one of the biggest bright spots for the Washington Wizards this season proving to be one of the best young prospects on the team's roster.
Washington's ability to find George in the late first round of the 2024 NBA Draft could be labeled as one of the biggest wins for the team's front office throughout the start of their rebuild, especially as the versatile forward continues to flash his potential proving to be a building block in the team's long-term plans.
Averaging a career-high 14.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists, while shooting 45.9% from field goal range and an impressive 40.5% from beyond the arc, the 22-year-old has raised eyebrows about how good he can be in the coming years.
The 6-foot-8 wing has the offensive versatility to play both on and off the ball, the size to serve as a capable defender that can guard multiple position and the IQ to be an impact player on both ends of the court.
Throughout the start of the season, George has been considered a candidate in the running for the NBA Most Improved Player award.
Although he likely won't be crowned the winner of the award, it's worth noting that his early season success is giving him the recognition he deserves.
However, George has his sights set on another honor that could be considered a far more achievable goal.
Following George's confident claim, it's hard to ignore the reality that this goal should be more than achievable.
Kyshawn George wants NBA Rising Stars nod
In a recent interview on NBA TV, George revealed why he believes he should be awarded a spot on the NBA Rising Stars roster as NBA All-Star Weekend looms.
“I can guard multiple positions at a high level," George said. "I can shoot the ball at a very high level, rebound at a high level. And I can create good shots for me and my teammates at a high level," the Wizards' forward concluded.
Not only does George have an extremely fair argument for why he should be considered for a spot in the NBA Rising Stars game, but his confidence is the exact reason why Washington's front office and their fanbase have high hopes for the player he can devlelop into.
The sky is the limit for George and perhaps the forward believes that a Rising Star nod is the first step for him to ascend to another level.
