The Washington Wizards future relies on the development of the team's young core moving forward.

Washington has taken several swings and up to this point, the Wizards arguably have three prospects that standout as potential building blocks outside of 27-year-old Trae Young, who the team recently made a blockbuster trade to acquire.

The most obvious building block is French product Alex Sarr, who's emerged as a legit two-way star for the Wizards throughout the start of this season.

Averaging 16,9 points, 7.6 rebounds and an impressive 2.3 blocks per game, the 7-footer is beginning to tap into the potential that motivated the Wizards to select him No. 2 overall in the 2024 NBA Draft.

In addition to Sarr, sharpshooting guard Tre Johnson has emerged as a another prospect who could be in position to emerge as a long-term solution in the team's backcourt.

Between his extremely high ceiling as an offensive scorer and continuously growing game in every other area, the reigning No. 6 overall pick looks to be a core piece of the team's future moving forward.

Finally, the last player who looks to be a certified building block for the Wizards moving forward is Kyshawn George, who continues to look like a hidden gem from the back half of the first-round in the 2024 NBA Draft.

The forward has arguably taken the biggest leap of any player on the Wizards this season, averaging 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists, while shooting an efficient 46.5% from field goal range and 40.0% from beyond the arc throughout his sophomore campaign.

However, it's not just George's play that has positioned him to be a key piece to the Wizards' rebuild, but his mindset that has allowed for him to become a leader on the team.

In fact. George's mindset could be the exact thing that changes the Wizards' future for the better.

Kyshawn George has next-level confidence

In a recent interview, George was asked about his mentality moving forward.

His answer: "DOMINATE...play my best and prove that I belong with the best of the best," George said. "That's my end goal and I have to make sure I come out with that mentality every night and set the tone," the forward added.

George truly believes he's one of the best players in the league and that mindset is the exact mentality Washington's core should have on a nightly basis.

The Wizards are one of the best young team's in the league and even if their record doesn't indicate that yet, it's clear they'll be a force sooner rather than later.
