Kyshawn George has been one of the biggest developments for the Washington Wizards this season.

Following a major leap throughout the start of his sophomore season, averaging 14.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 4.9 assists, while shooting an efficient 46.5% from field goal range and 40.0% from beyond the arc, it's safe to say that George has already exceeded expectations that he entered the league with.

As a hidden gem in the back half of the first-round in the 2024 NBA Draft, George's rookie campaign suggested that Washington may have founded a legitimate role player that could serve as a pivotal piece to the team's rebuild in the long-term.

However, the Miami product's offseason work has proven that he may be more than just a rotational player; in fact, his leap has suggested that there could be a legitimate chance that he finds himself on an NBA All-Star roster in the near future.

Considering former Wizard CJ McCollum's high praise for the forward, it only goes to show that George's potential may be higher than originally anticipated when Washington took a swing on his skillset a couple offseasons ago.

With George's leap in year two, the forward has become a pivotal piece in the team's long-term future and his development has become a priority for the coaching staff and the front office, which alone is why many fear that the arrival of Trae Young could deter a positive leap for George moving forward.

Fortunately, the 22-year-old doesn't seem to be worried about his role on the Wizards moving forward.

If anything, his recent interview revealed why he'll still be an X-Factor for Washington even with Trae Young on the court.

Kyshawn George understands his upside

In a recent interview on NBA TV, George revealed exactly why he has the potential to be a game changer for the Wizards moving forward.

When asked about the player he sees himself developing into, the 6-foot-8 wing gave a unique response:

"I used to be a point guard," George said. "So being able to create for myself or teammates at a high level... score, facilitate, EVERYTHING"

George's confidence is off the charts and with the reality that he simply is impressive at every area of his game that he mentioned, there is a real possibility that he could be a long-term building block for the Wizards.

If both George and Alex Sarr continue to take leaps alongside Young, mixed with the chance that the Wizards make another blockbuster trade, Washington could be back in the mix sooner than originally expected.
