The Washington Wizards haven't been viewed as a team with a bright future for last couple decades, if ever.

Washington's glory days have come in brief stints with the likes of Michael Jordan, Gilbert Arenas, John Wall and Bradley Beal all being tied to the seasons in which the fanbase had hope.

Since then, it's become a never-ending cycle of medicority over the last few years as Washington has continued to find themselves at the bottom of the NBA standings missing out on postseason play.

Part of that reason came due to the team's negligence on pressing the restart button when they had the opportunities to which led to the value of their top trade chips dropping significantly.

As a result, the Wizards' rebuild was pushed back years which alone put them behind the eight ball in comparison to team's like the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are fresh off the franchises' first-ever NBA Championship and even the Detroit Pistons, who now find themselves atop the Eastern Conference midway through January.

However, Washington's decision to finally initiate their rebuild over the last few seasons has given the team hope and although it's come with several swing and misses in the NBA Draft, the team's new decision-makers have managed to build one of the most exciting young cores in the league.

And if you don't believe me, perhaps you'll believe Wizards' announcer Chris Miller, who spends plenty of time analyzing what the Wizards are building.

Wizards' announcer Chris Miller acknowledges fans' optimism

Despite being 10-31 and at the bottom of the NBA standings, each Wizards' game adds plenty of reason for the fanbase to believe in what is being built in Washington.

The Wizards' potential seems off the charts and although they may not be close to contending yet, all signs suggest that the team is heading in the right direction.

According to Wizards' announcer Chris Miller, he's seen continues signs that even the fanbase believes Washington is trending up.

"There is a fanbase that is watching what the Wizards are doing right now, building around these young players, excited for the future," Miller said.

It's hard to argue that point, especially with the likes of the team's young core constantly putting on performances that turn heads (shoutout to Kyshawn George's historic night over the weekend.)

Regardless of when the team returns to playoff contention, it's become increasingly obvious that the Wizards are building something special.
