Trae Young's debut for the Washington Wizards is scheduled for Thursday's matchup against the Utah Jazz, but he's already proven just how big of an impact he'll bring to D.C. before he's even gotten the opportunity to suit up.
After things got heated in the team's battle against the Houston Rockets on Monday, Young made his role as the team's leader crystal clear leaving the bench to not only let the referees hear about his frustration, but to also let his teammates know he'll have their back.

Ejected before playing a single minute with the Wizards. 😅

Young found himself being ejected from the game for leaving the sidelines and stepping on the court, but that's besides the point.
The All-Star guard made it clear that he's bringing an edge back to Washington basketball, and that alone will be a major boost for what the front office hopes to buld in the DMV moving forward.
Trae Young will be the enforcer the Wizards need
Looking across the league, every winning team has atleast one player that will risk an ejection to stand up for his team.
For Washington, it's seemingly been a few years since the team has had an enforcer-type player that brought an edge to the team.
A player who won't shy away from physicality and certainly won't allow opposing teams to walk over the Wizards.
Sure, players like Jonas Valanciunas and Marcus Smart have suited up for the team in the last few season, but with limited time in D.C, it's still been years since the team had a star player who could lead by example, even with the simplest actions.
Fortunately, Young's arrival offers exactly that.
Young makes it clear what he's bringing to Washington
Following his ejection, Young took no time to take to social media and make it clear exactly what he plans to bring to Washington.
Don’t expect me to get ejected too many more times D.C.😂 .. but I’m definitely bringing that energy & competitiveness when I’m back for my brothers! 🫶🏽

That high-level energy and competitive spirit is exactly what the Wizards have been missing over the last few years, especiallty since the team's backcourt duo of John Wall and Bradley Beal split.
It's hard not to acknowledge that it feels like a new era is officially begininning in Washington and with Young leading the charge, the Wizards seem like a team that will no longer be pushed around.
All that to say, while Young's ejection on Monday may not have seemed like a major deal to some, it proves that things in the nation's Capital are turning around for the better.
With Young leading the charge, it's clear why the Wizards already have plans to extend the star guard this summer.
